«Seven Moons» - the legendary production by the Tashkent-based Ilkhom Theatre, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
This performance has become the hallmark of the theatre, earning international acclaim from audiences around the world.

A poetic parable inspired by Alisher Navoi, «Seven Moons»tells the story of Shah Bahram - a ruler who had everything, yet lost more than he could imagine because of pride and passion.
It is a reflection on the price of glory and disgrace, on greatness and humiliation, and on an all-consuming love that can both destroy and create.

A special power of the performance lies in its live musical arrangement, where oriental instruments intertwine with modern rhythms, filling the space with the sounds of saxophone, nay, double bass, percussion, and voice.

About the Theatre
Founded in 1976 by director Mark Weil, Ilkhom Theatre became one of the first professional independent theatres in the post-Soviet space. Its core principle has always been complete artistic freedom, independent of any dominant ideology.

Many renowned actors and directors began their careers at Ilkhom: Timur Bekmambetov, Viktor Verzhbitsky, Djanik Fayziev, and others.
The theatre has received critical acclaim across Europe and Russia, with its productions touring 22 countries - from Austria to Japan.

Nearly 50 years after its founding, Mark Weil’s Ilkhom Theatre remains a cult space and the beating heart of Uzbekistan’s independent art scene.
