The Genesis Exhibition

From December 12, 2025 to February 15, 2026, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan presents the solo exhibition “Genesis” by renowned Kazakhstani artist
Umirali Ismailov — Chairman of the Artists’ Union of Astana, Academician of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the title “Excellence in the Field of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

The exhibition draws attention to the power of pure color and form as independent sources of meaning — the very primary elements from which emotions, imagery, and inner balance emerge. The artist turns to the origins of visual perception, reducing the composition to its fundamental categories: color, light, and space.

Just as the concept of genesis conveys the birth of the world through the separation of light and darkness, sky and earth, some of U. Ismailov’s works are built upon horizontal layers of color that create the sensation of space coming into being before the viewer’s eyes.

The exposition features 55 works created in various styles, including expressive abstraction, color-field painting, and abstract minimalism.
