As part of the International Festival “Operalia”, a concert performance of the one-act opera Aleko by the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff will be presented, featuring opera soloists, the symphony orchestra and the chorus of the Astana Opera House.
The project’s author, conductor and artistic director of the festival is People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Abzal Mukhitdin.
Joining the leading soloists of the opera company on stage will be young singers – graduates of the International Opera Academy ASTANA OPERA. The role of Aleko will be performed by Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Talgat Mussabayev and the talented Kazakhstani baritone Dinmukhamed Koshkinbayev, winner of the television project “Bolshaya Opera” on the Kultura TV channel.
Aleko is a one-act opera based on the poem The Gypsies by Pushkin. The action takes place in a gypsy camp. At the heart of the story is a tragic love triangle: the beautiful gypsy Zemfira, Aleko, who left the city for love, and the young gypsy Zemfira has fallen for.
