Letters to Exes - a performance woven from unspoken words

We asked people to write letters to those they once loved, but never found the courage to send. Dozens of stories came to us - raw, heartfelt, and alive.

Letters about love that never worked out. About words that got stuck in the throat. About regret, gratitude, pain, and hope.
On stage, actors will give these confessions a voice, reading them aloud, so that the unsaid may finally be heard. And perhaps, in that voice from the past, you will recognise yourself.
Sometimes, to let go, all you need is to hear that you are not alone.

Audience says:

«We left the theatre holding hands. And just an hour before, we could barely speak to each other.
This performance felt like an honest conversation we had been postponing for too long. We listened to someone else’s letters, yet it felt as though our own thoughts were being read aloud. Pain, resentment, regret, love, everything we were too afraid to say to one another was spoken from the stage.
At times we smiled, at times we gripped each other’s hands tighter. And then suddenly, he turned to me and whispered: ‘I’m sorry.’ I looked at him, and words no longer mattered, I understood everything.»

«Letters to Exes’ is a play about the past. Yet, strangely, it was this performance that helped us understand what to do with the present. We simply walked out in silence, without letting go of each other’s hands, and kept walking. Together.»

«I thought I would come and cry. But at one point I caught myself smiling.
I was listening to those letters, and it felt as if I was reliving my own, the one I never dared to write. Sometimes I recognised myself, sometimes I realised I wasn’t alone in this feeling. And in the end, I felt lighter. Not because the pain had disappeared, but because I had finally accepted it. Which means, soon, I will be able to let it go.»
