Shokan Ualikhanov — The Great Scientist of the Kazakh People

Every third Sunday of the month entrance to the museum for residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan is FREE (except for foreign exhibitions)
Promotion: During the holidays, admission to the museum in the halls of permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions (except for foreign exhibitions) is FREE for CHILDREN.
The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is hosting an exhibition titled «Shokan Ualikhanov — The Great Scientist of the Kazakh People» from June 13 to July 12, 2025, dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest figures in Kazakh science and enlightenment, Shokan Ualikhanov.
The exhibition consists of the following sections:
- Life and Activities of Shokan Ualikhanov: Childhood, studies at the Siberian Cadet Corps, service, and early research.
- The Kashgar Expedition: The famous journey to Eastern Turkestan (1858–1859), which brought Shokan’s name to the attention of European science.
- Scientific Heritage: Works on the history, ethnography, law, and culture of the peoples of Central Asia and Kazakhstan.
- The Image of Shokan in Art: Literary works, painting, cinema, and cultural interpretations of the scientist’s personality.
The exhibition features:
• Archival photographs, autographs, letters, and scholarly works;
• Personal belongings: pistol, chest, belt, household items of the family;
• Illustrative materials related to the Kashgar route;
• Posters and photographic documents from partner museums.

Entry for children under 7 years old is FREE. From 7 to 18 years old - children's tariff. From 18 to 22 years old - student tariff (upon presentation of a student card). |
