20th Century Symphonic Classics

Second Concert

THE CONCERT IS HELD IN KAZAKH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES

The programme featuring works by 20th-century classical composers Tles Kazhgaliyev, Sergei Prokofiev and George Gershwin will be presented by the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Aidar Abzhakhanov.

The evening’s programme includes vibrant symphonic compositions imbued with the energy of the Kazakh kui, the grotesque elements of musical neoclassicism, and the rhythms of American jazz blues.

The concert will feature the brilliant musician and educator, Honoured Artist of Kazakhstan, Professor Altai Kussainov, as the soloist. His pianistic artistry reflects the influences of three major schools: the Kurmangazy Almaty Conservatory (1979), the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (1982) and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow (1994).

Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Aidar Abzhakhanov, a graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory (class of the renowned Soviet conductor and educator Ilya Musin), honed his conducting skills under the guidance of leading masters in Russia, Austria and Italy. Abzhakhanov’s repertoire includes numerous productions of the world’s leading ballet works.

The exceptional cast of performers and the professionalism of the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra promise an unforgettable experience for lovers of symphonic classics.
