Awaiting the heart

Yuri Polyakov is one of the leading contemporary Russian playwrights whose plays are widely known, and plays based on his works are staged all over the world. “Awaiting the heart” is one such play.

Oleg Borisovich Alapaev, a well-known businessman, is waiting for a suitable donor for a heart transplant. For the last few months he has been staying in an elite clinic under the care of doctors.

He has a young wife, a loving son, a faithful friend, a reliable doctor. But the disease, which disrupted his life, was the starting point, after which the hero begins to look at many things
differently.

This tragicomedy directed by Anna Udesiani is an attempt to tell the audience about important things for everyone: love, loneliness, expectations and hopes for happiness, gains and losses.

Sparkling humor, heartfelt lyricism, depth and simplicity of presentation make the play easy for the audience to understand, because it is so easy for each of us to understand the characters of this wonderful play.
