The fourth concert of the “Musical Alliance” series is dedicated to the masterpieces of violin music and the creative legacy of the outstanding Belgian violinist, composer, conductor, and teacher Eugène Ysaÿe (1858–1931).
The programme features his monumental cycle Six Sonatas for Solo Violin, a pinnacle not only of Ysaÿe’s oeuvre but of twentieth-century violin music as a whole. These works embody the quintessence of the instrument’s artistic and technical potential, uniting the inspiration of performer and composer.
Each sonata is a musical dedication to one of Ysaÿe’s distinguished contemporaries – Joseph Szigeti, Jacques Thibaud, George Enescu, Fritz Kreisler, Mathieu Crickboom, and Manuel Quiroga. Together, they form a gallery of portraits captured in sound.
We invite all lovers of classical music to discover the creative heritage of this remarkable composer, whose art continues to sound modern and inspired, prompting reflection on timeless human values.
