The main character of the play, André, is 80 years old. Once a dancer, he now lives in Paris with his daughter Anne and her husband Antoine. Or was André an engineer whose daughter lives in London with her new boyfriend Pierre? Why is he still in his pajamas? And where has his watch and sense of time gone?

Strange things keep happening around him, and people behave oddly. Yet André is convinced he’s still a strong man who can stand his ground. After all, he’s not losing his mind… or is he?

«The Father» is a moving and realistic family story that keeps the audience on edge from the very beginning. Sergey Makovetsky and Marina Alexandrova take us through a deeply emotional journey of a father and daughter struggling to come to terms with the mental decline of a loved one. What do you do when your mind begins to betray you? When the line between memory and imagination blurs?

Florian Zeller, the author, is one of the brightest stars of modern theatre. His plays are staged across the globe. In 2014, «The Father» earned him the prestigious Molière Award, France’s highest theatrical honour. The play has enjoyed tremendous success in Paris, London, New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, and dozens of other cities worldwide.
