Temirtau Theatre for Children and Youth was founded in 1989.
 
Temirtau Theatre for Young Audience was opened with the aim of preserving the theatre culture of Temirtau city, and it was focused entirely on the young audience of Karaganda region.
 
The first season of the Temirtau Theatre for Children and Youth was opened on 24 November 1990 with the play «A Suitcase of Nonsense» by O. Petrushevskaya.

The building of the Theatre for Children and Youth, an architectural monument of Temirtau, is located in the old part of the city. There is a specially equipped stage area with an auditorium for 250 seats and a small auditorium for 70 seats with modern lighting and sound equipment, a spacious theatre foyer, where guests and residents of Temirtau can watch a diverse repertoire of the theatre.

Over the period from 1991 to 2025, the theatre has staged more than 190 performances based on Kazakhstani, foreign and classical dramaturgy. A special place in the repertoire of the theatre is occupied by productions based on the works of contemporary playwrights. More than 200 performances take place on the basis of the theatre per year, and more than 37 thousand spectators attend them. The theatre does not limit its activity only to showings of plays. On a regular basis, the theatre carries out project activities in the following areas: theatre school «Prospect school», festivals of modern Kazakhstani drama «Drama.kz/cities», project «Food-theatre», project «Theatre readings of plays», excursions «RgoTheatre».

Currently the head of the theatre is Akhmedin Salauat Sagdatovich.
Acting Artistic Director of the theatre is Oleg Avezovich Kerimov.

The chief artist of the theatre is Tatiana Viktorovna Ushakova. 

The staging part of the theatre for many years is headed by Natalia Leonidovna Soboleva. 
Head of the theatre troupe - Evgenia Gennadyevna Teslya-Yartseva.
Deputy Head - Pavel Stepanovich Avdyukov.

Among the most significant awards in recent years we can mention the following: 

During the years of work the theatre troupe was a repeated participant of international and republican competitions, festivals and was awarded with high prizes:

2013 - IX International Theatre Festival «Classics Today», Dneprodzerzhinsk, Ukraine - diploma «For adaptation of classics for youth audience» performance «Profitable Place» based on the play by A.N. Ostrovsky.
 
2015 - International Festival of Folk Art «Wreath of Friendship» - 2015 (Bobruisk, Republic of Belarus).
 
2019 - diploma winner of the XX International Theatre Festival «Melikhov Spring».
  
2021 - participation in the International Theatre Festival «TEARTKOKSHE», Kokshetau with the play «That very day». The third most important prize «For artistic integrity»;

2022 - participation in the 15th festival «Kolyada-plays», Yekaterinburg. Winner in the nomination «Best Supporting Actress» - artist L. Gulueva, in the play «That Very Day».

2024 - XVI International Youth Theatre Forum «М.@rt.контакт» (Republic of Belarus, Mogilev) with the drama «Just an amazing fool», which was awarded by the jury with a special diploma «For revealing the theme of love».

International Theatre Festival «Golden Province», Kuznetsk, Penza. Received the award «Best Scenographic Solution» - the play «Memorial Prayer», based on the play by G. Gorin.
