Conceiving a scheme very much in the spirit of our time, to insure a strange and eccentric woman and then stage an unfortunate accident, three swindlers attempt to break into the house and win the hostess’s trust. Yet the plan fails. And it is not because their every attempt to carry out the scheme ends in disaster. Warmed by her kindness and compassion, they suddenly and against their own will begin to change in the most wonderful way. Love, kindness, human dignity and nobility, values that might seem elusive and intangible, turn out to carry far greater weight than material and visible ones.
