Mukhtar Auezov Theatre with the play «My Dear Brother» at the Lermontov Theatre
Anton Chekhov’s «My Dear Uncle» remains a work of timeless relevance. The production delves into the spiritual upheavals that emerge at the turn of eras - the clash between old and new ways of life, and the shifting ideals and aspirations of society - all explored through a deeply psychological lens. The fate of the characters, particularly that of Ivan Voynitsky, reflects an entire generation chasing false or outdated ideals, even taking pride in them, clinging to them still. This renewed artistic interpretation of «My Dear Brother» invites the audience to contemplate the virtues and flaws within the moral values of Kazakh society as well.
