«The Bride Put Up for Tender» – Mukhtar Auezov Theatre on Tour in Yesik

The drama reflects the events of our own time. A married couple, desperate to save their only son, who has run over a man with his car, seek to bribe the court. At last, the wife is «put up for tender» sold off to pay the price. In the end, all the characters come away with their wealth intact. Only the husband, shattered by disgrace and «killed by his honour», wanders off, leaving his home behind. «As parents, we say: a life may be sacrificed for the sake of a child». But what meaning is there in a sacrifice that brings a family to ruin?
