The State Chamber Orchestra «Camerata Kazakhstan» is pleased to invite you to the opening of its 29th concert season.

The orchestra bursts into the new season with a stunning programme and a brilliant guest soloist.

A few years ago, Almaty audiences had the pleasure of discovering violinist Leonid Baranov, who won the hearts of listeners during two rounds of the prestigious Violinissimo competition. He returned to Switzerland with not only the Grand Prix, but also the admiration of both music lovers and professionals.

This September 2025, experience true musical artistry on the stage of the Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic named after Zhambyl, where you are invited to the concert «Time of Strings».

About Leonid Baranov:
Born in Saint Petersburg, Leonid studied violin in Russia, the USA, and Switzerland under professors Anelia Skliarskaia, Riza Gimaletdinov, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Vadim Gluzman, Dora Schwarzberg, Grigory Kalinovsky, Pavel Vernikov, Ilya Gringolts, and Yuuki Wong.

He began performing as a soloist at the age of 15 and has since graced major stages including the Vienna Konzerthaus, Israeli Opera (Tel Aviv), Mariinsky Theatre (Saint Petersburg), Tonhalle Zürich, and Carnegie Hall (New York).

As a guest soloist, he has played with renowned orchestras such as the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Symphony, Kazakh State Academic Symphony Orchestra, and Lausanne Sinfonietta, under the batons of conductors like Alexander Titov, Yuri Simonov, David Reiland, and Jonathan Bloxham.

In 2022, he was awarded the Rahn Kulturfonds Prize in Zurich. From 2022 to 2024, he was a member of the Zurich Philharmonia, and in the 2024/25 season, he joined the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.

Despite a demanding performance schedule, Leonid continues his solo and chamber music career, regularly performing across Switzerland, Europe, and the US. He currently plays a master violin crafted by Antonio Mariani in 1667.
