«AMIRE»
A monologue performance is a unique genre in theatre. The path of art is a difficult one. An artist’s life is their art, and to limit their art is to limit their life. Yet there are those whose legacy endures even after they are gone.
The personal tragedy of the artist, the restriction of creativity, and the stifling of rare talent represent an affront to the art of an entire nation.
This production tells the story of Amire Kashaubayev, the first Kazakh folk singer and one of the first actors of Kazakh theatre, who performed at the 1925 Paris World Expo. The work explores the conflict between the individual and the masses, life and art, legacy and betrayal.
