The comedy ARSHIN MAL ALAN, written in 1913 by Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov, was staged in the 1930s on the stages of all theatres in the Soviet Union.

The play is based on the intricacies of the young merchant Askar, who fell in love at first sight with the beautiful Gulchikhra, Sultanbek's daughter.

With the help of his faithful friend Suleyman, he resorts to various tricks to marry his beloved.
