«Baba Chanel» is a contemporary comedy set in the present day. The story revolves around the amateur Russian folk song ensemble «Naitie», which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The female soloists meet the famous 90-60-90 standard - not in centimeters, but in age. Together they are nearly 400 years old, yet they still want to live, love, and be loved. All of them are secretly in love with the young accordion player Sergey. Their cheerful celebration is suddenly disrupted by the appearance of a new ensemble member - Rosa…

Playwright Nikolai Kolyada describes the play as follows: «This play has been running at the Kolyada Theatre in Yekaterinburg for over ten years. You can stage it every day and still have a full house. In the first act, the audience laughs uncontrollably, while in the second act the hall fills with tears. It should make the viewer reflect: what exactly was I laughing at so hard just half an hour ago?»

About the director: Vladimir Vladimirovich Drozdetsky graduated from the T. Zhurgenov State Academy of Arts in Almaty in 1992. Since 2004, he has been working at the Temirtau Theatre for Children and Youth. From 1992 to 2014, he served as the artistic director of the Temirtau Youth Theatre Studio.

As a stage director, he has produced numerous performances. Over the years, he has staged 17 productions that were successfully presented at regional, national, and international festivals, earning multiple diplomas and awards.

About the playwright: Nikolai Vladimirovich Kolyada (born December 4, 1957, Presnogorkovka, Kostanay Region) is a Soviet and Russian playwright, actor, theatre director, prose writer, and screenwriter. He is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2003) and a laureate of the K. S. Stanislavsky International Prize.
