The central character, Bala Mergen, is a brave and clever young hero who upholds the values of goodness. On a quest to rescue his friend Akkanat, who has been captured by a cunning sorceress, he faces countless trials that reveal his fearless spirit and unwavering loyalty to his people. Venturing boldly into enemy territory, Bala Mergen demonstrates true heroism. What obstacles will he overcome? Will he, with the help of his newfound companions, bring peace to the land?

Based on the poetic fairy tale by K. Zhetpisbayev, the story celebrates the richness of Kazakh oral tradition, inspiring young audiences with patriotism, moral values, and a vivid sense of imagination.

This performance is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Kadir Zhetpisbayev, People's Artist of Kazakhstan and director, who made significant contributions to the early years of the Kalleki Theatre and its repertoire.
