Dramarathon 2026: The Playwrights Battle
The micro-festival of short plays Dramarathon presents the first readings of the new year.
Directors will stage, and actors will read a record-breaking 58 plays, written especially for Dramarathon. Each piece is like a fortune cookie, you might just discover your own personal forecast for 2026.
This year, playwrights from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia take part. Texts are presented in Kazakh, Russian, and several other languages. New Year comedies, non-festive dramas, traditional structures, and bold post-post-meta experiments - all collide in one theatrical marathon.
Dress code: egocentric. Come in pajamas if you like. Dress up as if for a carnival. Or don’t dress up at all, totally fine.
Feel free to bring food and drinks to share. We provide tea, coffee, and sweets. We’re also against disposable cups, so bringing your own mug is highly encouraged, cozy and eco-friendly.
Dramarathon evenings are among the warmest and most unifying events for everyone who loves contemporary theatre.
Keep calm & go to the theatre!
Dramarathons have been held at Transforma since 2019. Over the years, 225 plays have been written for the project, with total reading time exceeding 35 hours.
