«From the Fjords to the New World» at ASTANA BALLET

«From the Fjords to the New World» is a musical journey from the northern romance of Norway to the symphonic grandeur of the New World.

On February 8, 2026, two great composers - Edvard Grieg and Antonín Dvořák - will be united in one program. The first part of the concert features excerpts from Grieg’s «Peer Gynt» Suite, as well as his celebrated Piano Concerto, performed by Zhaniya Aubakirova, one of Kazakhstan’s most distinguished pianists.

In the second half of the evening, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 «From the New World» will be performed - a masterpiece that blends European symphonic tradition with the intonations of American folk music, creating a vivid and recognizable musical image of the New World, filled with openness, movement, and inner strength.

The concert will be performed by the Astana Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Arman Urazgaliyev.
