Hedda Gabler

«Hedda Gabler» is a drama of passion, freedom, and destructive desires.

It tells the story of a woman who dreams of controlling her own destiny - only to become a prisoner of her own choices.

Henrik Ibsen’s play, first staged in 1890, still resonates with striking modernity. «Hedda Gabler» is a clash of passion and duty, freedom and dependence. The heroine longs for a vibrant life, yet finds herself trapped in marriage, societal expectations, and her own ambitions.

The production explores an eternal conflict: how can personal desire be reconciled with social norms? Hedda seeks meaning in destroying others’ lives, but ultimately becomes ensnared in her own manipulations.

The Ilya Bobkov Studio Theatre presents this classic text through a modern lens: minimalist scenography, an intense acting ensemble, and direction that focuses on the psychological depth of the characters.
