Kazakh Spirit and Tango Rhythms
Choral Music Concert
Kazakh Spirit and Tango Rhythms
The chorus of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera”, led by Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Dautov, has earned acclaim both at home and abroad.
As the principal performer of all choral parts in the theatre’s opera productions, the ensemble is also actively engaged in concert activity, presenting works of various genres — from classical to contemporary music.
Since 2006, the chorus has repeatedly won awards at prestigious international choral festivals and competitions, affirming its high level of professionalism.
Over the past two years, the ensemble has proudly represented Kazakhstan at the international “Hajnówka-2023” festival in Poland, performing Kazakh folk songs as well as works by contemporary national and Western European composers.
The chorus performs without instrumental accompaniment — a cappella — a style that requires exceptional performance culture from both the ensemble and the chorus master.
The Astana Opera Chamber Chorus, under the direction of Chorus Master Dauren Mussin and Yerzhan Sansyzbayev, will present a rich concert programme featuring masterpieces of the classical choral repertoire, works by Kazakhstani composers, and the premiere of Misa a Buenos Aires (Tango Mass) by contemporary Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri.
