A Kitten Named Woof (KATMK)
Puppet Studio «Buratino»
Is it possible to find a true friend in a big city full of so many different sounds? Some of them are strange and unusual. For instance, what if a kitten always says «Woof» instead of «Meow»? Together with the fairy tale’s characters, we shall discover the answer.
The uniqueness of this new production lies in its staging: instead of the traditional puppet screen and hidden puppeteers, here the story is performed with tablet puppets. There is no usual screen on stage - instead, there are sets, while the puppeteers remain visible, becoming performers themselves, playing a role within the action.
The absence of the screen opens up a wider stage space. The puppets are large, voluminous, almost life-like, creating the illusion of «real» characters. This sense of presence, along with the sudden appearance of new heroes, adds a special intonation and element of surprise to the entire performance. What makes it even more delightful is that, after the show, children can «meet» and «talk» with the characters themselves. The director’s creative solutions are original, setting just the right atmosphere for a young audience.
