Beauty in mourning

Rinat Kiyakov's documentary drama based on Mukhtar Auezov's short story of the same name, «Qaragoz», brings together five women's documentary stories, led by the story of Qaragoz.

This play tells the story of the lives of women who have lost their beloved men.

After the death of her husband, Qaragoz takes a vow of celibacy and strictly observes it. The position of a widow, who must remain faithful to her husband's memory and the fear of being condemned by public rumour, condemns her to torment and suffering. Qaragoz tries to find a mental balance but fails to find it, which leads to a struggle with herself.

The play penetrates into the inner world of women experiencing the loss of their beloved.
