In the silence of an empty hall sits a man who was once the dazzling host of grand soirées and games of chance. Now an old man, he finds his memory carrying him back to the dazzling ballrooms of the masquerade, where music drifts through the air, masks flash past, and young faces whirl in the dance. There, amid the glitter and the whispers, an event was born that would forever change his life.
