The famous novel My Name is Koja by Kazakhstan’s eminent writer and classic of children’s literature Berdibek Sokpakbayev comes to life on the puppet theater stage in a fresh new interpretation, reconnecting with audiences.
This play portrays the mischievousness and innocence of childhood through the adventures of Koja, a village boy full of curiosity and energy. Though diligent in his studies, Koja often misbehaves: he upsets his teacher, hurts the feelings of his beloved classmate, his grandmother, and his mother, and unable to bear the weight of his mistakes, he joins Sultan, the horse caretaker’s son, to attend a lively celebration in the pasture.
Throughout the performance, Koja comes to understand his mistakes and learns responsibility, humility, and determination. A heartwarming story that nurtures kindness and compassion, this play entertains the audience while provoking thoughtful reflection.
