The “Mozart Gala” concert, dedicated to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, will feature arias, duets and excerpts from the great Viennese classic’s most renowned operas — Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, and others — performed by soloists of the opera and the chamber orchestra of the Astana Opera House.
Despite the universality of Mozart’s creative legacy, opera held a special place in his heart and captivated him more than any other genre. As he once admitted: “I envy everyone who writes operas. I’m ready to weep when I hear an operatic aria… The desire to compose operas is my idée fixe.”
Mozart wrote his first opera, Apollo et Hyacinthus, at the age of ten. The crowning achievement of his operatic career was The Magic Flute, composed in German and rooted in a national storyline enriched with philosophical depth.
The vivid and deeply expressive music of this Viennese master — filled with Mozart’s signature subtle humour and elegance — will leave no true lover of opera unmoved.
