On July 8, 2025, the Central Exhibition Hall of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after Abylkhan Kasteyev will host the grand opening of Nurlan Temirbekovich Zhainakbayev’s solo exhibition titled «Creativity Without Borders. Next.»

Nurlan Temirbekovich Zhainakbayev was born in 1963. He is a surgeon, professor, and Doctor of Medical Sciences. His scientific works include nine monographs, ten educational-methodical manuals, and over 130 scientific publications. He holds 14 certificates of authorship in the field of intellectual property and five patents, including two Eurasian patents. He is the author of four medical reference books and five textbooks. For his significant contribution to the development of medicine and public health in Kazakhstan, he has been awarded numerous state and departmental honours, including the title «Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan», the «Kurmet» Order, and the badge «Excellence in Healthcare».

In 2015, he was named «Scientist of the Year in Social Sciences, Mobile Medicine» by the Oxford Academy.

In 2025, he was awarded the «Parasat» Order for his contributions to medical education and the development and implementation of innovative technologies in medical training.

As the famous German writer Lion Feuchtwanger once said, «A talented person is talented in all fields.» You will see this for yourself when you visit Nurlan’s second solo exhibition. Having dedicated a significant part of his life to medicine, he recently discovered the world of fine arts. True to his scientific nature, he approached this new stage of his life thoroughly and systematically. In 2021, he graduated from Abai Kazakh National University with a degree in Fine Arts.

Since 2024, he has been a master's student at the Repin Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. He is also the initiator of a new educational direction - «Fine Arts for Medical Students» (Certificate of Authorship No. 39475 from October 6, 2023). The purpose of this initiative is to integrate fine arts into the study of anatomy and physiology in medical schools.

The exhibition «Creativity Without Borders. Next.» is a visual journey through landscapes and still lifes of Kazakhstan, reimagined through the artist’s personal perception. His works encompass a wide variety of themes, from vast steppes and majestic mountains to the poetic simplicity of still life and blooming fields. Nurlan has a delicate sensitivity to the rhythm of nature and the inner energy of the landscape. His palette is bright and expressive, yet not overwhelming - each canvas seems to absorb the light and air of his native land. Especially striking are the landscapes with scarlet poppies, evening skies, and pine trees along mountain rivers, reflecting both the traditions of the Kazakh painting school and the influence of European plein air thinking.

The exhibition is divided into three thematic sections:

Landscapes as a dialogue with nature: mountain ranges, sunsets, forests, and plains convey a sense of vastness and peaceful contemplation.

Still life as a symbol of timelessness: apples and flowers reveal the beauty in simplicity and life’s fleeting moments.

Figure in space: a solitary human silhouette standing by the shore becomes a metaphor for seeking, reflection, and existence between light and shadow.

This exhibition is a heartfelt dedication to the artist’s homeland, light, and people. Through the fluid brushstrokes of oil painting, the viewer is invited not only to observe but to feel, listen, and breathe along with the canvas.
