YELLOW STEPPE
On 22 November 2025, the Chamber Hall of the Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev State Academic Philharmonic will host the heartfelt and profound concert SARY DALA. Beginning at 17:00, the evening will offer audiences a unique programme that intertwines the melody of the great Kazakh steppe with the spirit of national identity.
The concert will feature works representing different eras of Kazakh music. The evening will open with Siylaskanğa ne jetedi («Nothing Compares to Friendship»), written and composed by Kentau Nazarbek. The ensemble Sary Dala will then perform touching songs such as Tugan zher («Motherland») by Janai Äbdirahman, Barköl by Qanat Bokhan, and Tamasha by Temirzhan Bazarbaev.
Renowned traditional singers will also take part in the concert. Zinat Qasymova will perform Shamshi Qaldayaqov’s Araylym Aqqeles, while Telman Nurkenov will present Jañbyr tökti («The Rain Fell») by Tügelbai Qazaqov and Aq köilek («White Dress») by Qurman Äkbariya. In addition, Jaqsykeldi Mayasarov will perform Atyñ kim, qalqa («What Is Your Name, My Dear?») by Temirzhan Bazarbaev.
The programme will include timeless classics from the golden treasury of Kazakh music: Boztorğai by Eskendir Hasanğaliev, Sen sulu («You Are Beautiful») by Shamshi Qaldayaqov, and Marjan qyz («Pearl Girl») by Äbilakhat Espaev-songs that have long held a special place in the hearts of listeners.
The second part of the concert will be dedicated to folk songs. The Sary Dala ensemble will perform beloved folk melodies such as Shyrmauyq, Tau işinde («In the Mountains»), Qarğaş-ai, and Büldirgen. Săulejan Tağziya will delight the audience with Auylym altyn besigim («My Village, My Golden Cradle») and Aq erke («Graceful One»), beautifully concluding the evening.
