An immersive performance exploring the depths of human consciousness and the mysteries of the cosmos.

ARTiSHOCK Theatre presents a new interpretation of Stanisław Lem’s classic science fiction novel Solaris.

Solaris is a distant planet covered by a mysterious ocean. On a space station orbiting the planet, psychologist Kris Kelvin finds himself suspended between reality and illusion. He encounters inexplicable phenomena and the ghosts of his past, embodied in living forms.

«This is not madness... there’s something here about conscience,» says one of the characters in Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris.

The visual theatre of ARTiSHOCK ventures into the realm of science fiction, making the ocean of Solaris one of the play’s central characters and blurring the boundaries between the real and the imagined.

How do we cope with loss and guilt? Is it possible to truly understand something utterly alien to us?

Together with the inhabitants of the station, we seek answers to the essential questions: how can science fiction be reimagined on a modern stage? And what does it truly mean to be human?

«The space designed by Anton Bolkunov represents a new level of visual theatre. There are countless details - wires, screens, switches, mechanisms - layered within a small hall…»

«ARTiSHOCK once again steps into unexplored territory - is it relevant to bring science fiction to the stage today, when life itself feels like it, and if so, how should it be done?...»
