«I Don’t Want to Lose Hope» - M. Auezov Theatre on Tour in Turkistan

This poignant drama unfolds within the walls of a hospital ward. The central character, Meirbek, now in his seventies, reflects deeply on the meaning of life and the elusive nature of happiness. «To be happy is one thing, but to feel that you are happy is entirely another», a wise man once said. Alas, many people live amid blessings, yet fail to see themselves as fortunate.

Through heartfelt conversations and philosophical debates among the characters, the play reveals their unique worldviews and personal life values. Daulet stands out with the wealth of his spirit, Asylkhan with his unwavering loyalty to his native land, and Meirbek with his humble gratitude for the portion of life measured out to him by fate. Among them, Sovetbek carries the heaviest burden - the sorrow of perhaps having taken the wrong path in life.
