The «HAS SANAT» Art Gallery presents a solo exhibition by the renowned Kazakhstani artist Akhmet Akhat titled «The Rhythm of Time.» The exhibition is dedicated to the artist’s 70th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The display features 40 paintings and graphic works.

Akhmet Akhat is a painter, graphic artist, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan (since 2004), Academician of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan (since 2020), and a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan (since 1988). He is also an expert in Oriental and Uyghur studies, as well as a master of tapestry, ceramics, video art, and photo art.

Akhmet Akhat has devoted his life to art and the study of Turkic culture, as it is essential for him to convey the spiritual connection between the past and the present through his art.

His works reflect his contemplation on the rich history of ancient cities and settlements, both forgotten and preserved, that once lay along the Great Silk Road.

The central theme of his paintings and graphic works is the cities of East Turkestan — their adobe houses, walls with narrow doorways, and almost deserted streets. In his new works, the ancient cities of East Turkestan appear in multiple allegorical forms, deep reflections, and metaphorical interpretations, resembling whimsical dreams and elusive mirages beyond rational perception.

Akhmet Akhat not only managed to depict these ancient cities on canvas and revive the sun- and wind-faded petroglyphs with bright colours, but also gave them new life, reminding his contemporaries of nearly forgotten eras.
