«The Art of Ideas - Masterpieces from the National Museum of China» Exhibition

The A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the National Art Museum of China and with the support of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, presents the exhibition “The Art of Ideas - Masterpieces from the National Museum of China.” The display features around 50 works of painting, graphics, and sculpture, offering insight into the artistic achievements of renowned Chinese masters.

In 2018, the Kasteyev Museum joined the International Alliance of Museums and Galleries of the Silk Road - an initiative led by the National Museum of China, aimed at fostering cultural and artistic exchange among participating countries through collaboration between professional art institutions.

This exhibition project is part of a significant cultural exchange programme dedicated to the promotion of national art. For Kazakhstani audiences, it presents a unique opportunity to explore exceptional examples of Chinese fine art, brought from Beijing’s leading art museum.

The exhibition includes sculptures, oil paintings, watercolours, gouache, and traditional Chinese ink paintings on paper, created by celebrated Chinese artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Upholding the tradition of Xieyi, these artists express not only the external form of their subjects but also seek to reveal their deeper spiritual essence through distinctive styles, techniques, and materials.
