Exhibition «Kumbirle, Brown dombra»

On 4 July 2025 at 11:00 AM, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host the opening of the exhibition «Resonance of the Dombyra», organised in honour of the National Dombyra Day. The exhibition is based on the museum’s collection of traditional musical instruments.

On display will be dombyras and other instruments once belonging to prominent figures of Kazakh history and culture: folk singer and composer Zhayau Musa, Dilda Alshynbaykyzy - wife of the great Abai, the legendary vocalist Amre Kashaubaev, scholar, composer and conductor Akhmet Zhubanov, the founder of Kazakh opera art Kulyash Baiseitova, academician Kanysh Satpayev, actor and theatre artist Yelubai Omirzakov, and many others, including Zh. Moldagaliyev, K. Kenzhetaev, A. Zhangeldin, and K. Kasymov.

As part of the event, People’s Artist of Kazakhstan and renowned kuishi (dombyra virtuoso) Seken Turysbek will donate his beloved dombyra to the museum - an instrument that accompanied him in composing countless musical masterpieces over nearly three decades.

The celebration will also feature performances by the State Chamber Orchestra «Akzhauyn» and the Serper and Zhiger dombyra ensembles from the Ili District’s Children's Music School No.1. This festive occasion will immerse guests in the poetic and spiritual depths of Kazakh culture, offering a closer connection to the rich history and resonant sound of traditional Kazakh instruments.
