The 100th anniversary of People’s Artist of the USSR Yermek Serkebayev has been included in UNESCO’s Calendar of Anniversaries for 2026. Previously, this prestigious list featured the jubilees of outstanding figures of Kazakhstan such as Abai, Mukhtar Auezov, Kanysh Satpayev and Sabit Mukanov. In 2026–2027, international cultural initiatives will be held under the auspices of Yermek Serkebayev’s name, continuing the tradition of UNESCO-level recognition of the nation’s great personalities.

To mark this significant date in 2026, the Astana Opera House presents a series of concerts dedicated to the creative legacy of the great baritone. The programmes will feature works from Yermek Serkebayev’s operatic, chamber and song repertoire – an artist whom his contemporaries called the “King of Baritones” for his exceptional vocal and stage qualities.

The concert will feature works from the repertoire of the “Golden Voice of Kazakhstan,” performed by the soloists of the Astana Opera Theatre.
