Day 1: Visit to the ruins of Otrar

The legendary city of Otrar, according to legend, was completely burned by Genghis Khan for his pride and unwillingness to submit. In the Middle Ages, it was the commercial and religious capital of the large Otrar oasis, spread over 2,500 square kilometers of a large fertile valley at the confluence of the Arys and Syr Darya rivers. Otrar is a witness to the heyday of Kazakhstan during the era of the Great Silk Road. It remained a major trading center until the Middle Ages. The world-famous medieval thinker Al-Farabi was born, lived and worked in this city.

Visit to the Arystan Baba Mausoleum.

It is an architectural monument of the 12th-14th centuries, not far from the ruins of ancient Otyrar, 150 km from the city of Shymkent. The mausoleum was built over the grave of the famous religious mystic Arystan Baba, who lived in the 12th century. Legends call Arystan Baba the teacher and spiritual mentor of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.

Visit to the Mausoleum of Ukasha-ata

The Mausoleum of Ukasha-ata (IX - 10th centuries) consists of a miniature lobby and the main room. Inside the building is one of the largest tombstones in the Republic of Kazakhstan - a 21-meter tombstone.

The sacred well of Ukasha-ata is a narrow tunnel lined with stone. There is a belief that the water in this well is connected by underground paths with the spring water of the Zamzam spring in Mecca and has healing powers.

Excursion tour to the Ak-Mechet cave - one of the most mysterious places in Southern Kazakhstan. What is also unique is that there is not a single tree for many kilometers above. And the cave is a real oasis. The Ak Mechet cave is shrouded in many legends, and one of them tells of a chained dragon. The legend is silent about how long the dragon lived, but the place where he allegedly slept has been preserved.
