«The Virtuoso Küy Performer of Zhetysu»
The State Academic Concert Organization Kazakhconcert named after Roza Baglanova presents the artistic evening «The Virtuoso Küy Performer of Zhetysu», dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Omarkhan Kerimkulov.
Omarkhan Kerimkulov is one of the outstanding figures who made a significant contribution to preserving and developing the unique heritage of Kazakh kyu art. He was not only a performer but also a researcher, deeply exploring the inner structure, symbolism, and spiritual essence of this musical phenomenon.
The concert program will feature original kyus by eminent representatives of the Zhetysu kyu tradition and singers - Kozheke Nazaruly, Sybankul Kalbasuly, Bestibai, Kodek Baishyganuuly, Sadikozha Moshanuly, and Omarkhan Kerimkulov. For the first time, O. Kerimkulov’s compositions will be performed on traditional folk instruments - sybyzgy, kobyz, shankobyz, and zhetygen.
The musical evening aims to highlight Omarkhan Kerimkulov’s significant role in the national spiritual heritage and pass on his creative legacy to the younger generation.
Participants: Honoured Artist of Kazakhstan Erbolat Shaldybekov; recipients of the «Excellence in Culture» badge Baurzhan Mukhametbaiuly, Baurzhan Bekmukhanbet, Batyrlan Abenov, Maksat Medeubek; laureates of national and international competitions Venera Tabys, Zhantu Dadabayev, Galamat Beyseqoza; and the dombra quartet of the Kazakh National University of Arts - Eraly Taupikh, Beibarys Bakishev, Ernur Tulepbergenov, Ablaihan Mamyrbaev.
