Aldar-Kose is a fictional folkloric character of Kazakh tales, the hero of short humorous and satirical sketches and anecdotes.

There exists a vast collection of popular stories and jokes about Aldar-Kose. The son of a poor man, Aldar-Kose is quick-witted and cunning; he protects the poor and, through intelligence and resourcefulness, deceives and punishes greedy rich men, idlers, fools, and even devils. Often compared to a Kazakh Robin Hood, his weapon is not the bow and arrow, but the power of wit and the spoken word.
