The play's main feature is its sound drama genre, staged by fifth-year students of GITIS (Moscow) as part of the educational programs fund. The love story from Alexander Green's famous fairy tale receives a new visual and musical interpretation: in this production, the orchestra becomes part of the troupe—the performers themselves play the music, combining drama and sound in a single stage space.
Songs performed in Kazakh and Russian create a unique sound of two cultures and symbolize mutual understanding between peoples. The magical narrative is enhanced by elements of folklore and the appearance of a shaman-storyteller.
The director's techniques respectfully reflect cultural traditions and are seamlessly woven into the play's plot, where the main characters, Gray and Assol, become symbols of community. Despite the innovative artistic solutions, the message of "Scarlet Sails" remains unchanged: dream and believe in miracles!
