Aiman-Sholpan. Touring Performance by the Alatau Traditional Art Theatre in Kyzylorda

In honour of the 125th anniversary of Mukhtar Auezov, the Alatau Traditional Art Theatre proudly presents the musical comedy Aiman-Sholpan, staged in Kyzylorda.

Based on the second version of Auezov’s musical comedy Aiman-Sholpan, written in 1956, this production integrates elements of national games and traditional choreography, preserving the play’s artistic integrity. Group scenes and folk songs vividly reflect the richness of traditional Kazakh art and heritage.

As Kazakhstan experiences a cultural renaissance, this performance - coloured with national customs and traditions - meets the genre's demands through light humour, romantic intrigue, expressive characterisation, and melodic musical accompaniment. The director breathes new life into the play by incorporating folk songs, improvisational contests (aitys), traditional games, and dance movements rooted in Kazakh culture.

Come and experience a vibrant celebration of our national spirit!
