This production invites the audience to look anew at one of Saltykov-Shchedrin’s most famous novels and to feel its distinctive blend of humor, lyricism, and tragedy. The abandoned estate of Golovlyovo comes to life - a Babylonian tower, a sorrowful reminder of a once-lost unity of language and mutual understanding, a tower that had to be brought down for us to acutely sense the fragile value of human relationships.
