«The Musketeers. Perdeler»
About the Performance:
ARTiSHOK Theatre presents its most vibrant and actor-driven production based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas - «The Musketeers. Perdeler.»
This is a guide on how to arrive in the capital from the provinces and build a career in the king’s elite forces, lose your horse, get involved in a serious fight, meet true love, experience betrayal, and ultimately find genuine friendship.
A guide with one essential condition: your name must be d’Artagnan.
The most frequently asked question about this performance is: what is «Kazakh Baroque,» and why «perdeler»?
Dumas’ novel and its characters are a dream for any actor. The personalities, circumstances, and dramatic turns experienced by d’Artagnan and his friends - Milady, the Cardinal, the Queen, Constance, Buckingham - captivate both cinema and theatre.
But how can one play France not by imitation, but by understanding its essence - sincerely, honestly, in one’s own way? This question led to the birth of the genre «Kazakh Baroque.»
In Kazakhstan, we constantly «play» France - in bazaars and flea markets, in luxurious mansions and residences. And of course, curtains become the ultimate symbol of wealth, prosperity, and success.
Together with Dumas’ heroes, we relive our own recent history and speak about our country today - with love, pain, and honesty.
«When speaking about modern war lacks maturity, words, and courage, when any direct position turns into conflict, the first impulse to find inner support is to reach for a bookshelf. Because within classical literature, the entire experience of humanity has already been written.»

«Contemporary theatre no longer operates with the term ‘stage material.’ We do not stage the works themselves, but reflections on them - plays based on motifs. We are not fighting for the details of a 19th-century novel, but striving to comprehend its timeless conflicts.»
