«Don’t Want to Say Goodbye!..» - Mukhtar Auezov Theatre on Tour in Atyrau

This play, written by the eminent Russian dramatist Alexander Volodin and distinguished by its deep psychological insight, follows the fate of eight families on the brink of divorce. Different in age, social standing, and outlook, these households are drawn into the dramas of doubt, pride, and disillusionment, where joyful meetings risk dissolving into fleeting farewells. At the courthouse, where they have come to end their marriages, a judge makes every effort to reconcile them. Yet self-absorbed husbands and wives have forgotten how to listen to one another, how to understand…

In this production, built on the language of theatrical convention, each character reveals their own vision, their own unique worldview. Every person is a separate universe, and to peer into that universe - to understand it, and if need be, to forgive - is a profound virtue. Featuring mainly the theatre’s young generation of actors, the performance sheds light on one of life’s most ordinary yet most complex truths.
