SHAFT. Excavating Hidden Threads
From January 14 to March 15, 2026, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosts the solo exhibition “SHAFT. Excavating Hidden Threads” by artist Daria Nurtaza (Kokonja).
The project is realized on the initiative of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Astana, Mustafa Kapucu, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conceptual basis of the exhibition lies in the notion of shaft—an archaeological term referring to a method of exploring cultural layers. The project is curated by Madina Sergazina and Baurzhan Sagiev.
The exhibition engages with the history of textile art, revealing a dialogue between past and present. The concept of the “shaft” is interpreted as an artistic metaphor—a means of uncovering hidden meanings and intuitively illuminating traces of the past. The exhibition features materials collected during the artist’s research trip to the region of Southeastern Anatolia (Türkiye).
