The Nutcracker and the Lord of Darkness in Almaty

This is a unique artistic interpretation of the classic story,
where the familiar New Year’s fairy tale is presented in a mystical and philosophical light.
The production impresses with its scale, visual brilliance, and emotional depth.

A New Perspective on the Immortal Classic

Traditional versions of «The Nutcracker» are always associated with the festive atmosphere, the triumph of good over evil, and magical scenery. However, E.T.A. Hoffmann's original story was conceived as a tale of man’s struggle with his inner fears, overcoming darkness, spiritual strength, self-discovery, and values beyond appearances.
In this production, the philosophical message comes to the forefront, revealed through mystical imagery, dramatic narrative, and expressive ice choreography.

A Spectacular Visual and Musical Show

The production blends several powerful expressive elements:

• Enchanting figure skating filled with emotion, speed, and energy
• Next-generation video scenery for total immersion
• Striking costumes and masks reflecting the atmosphere of a fairy tale and darkness
• P.I. Tchaikovsky’s music in a modern rock arrangement
• Cutting-edge special effects enhancing each twist of the story

The atmosphere is further enriched by original music by renowned St. Petersburg composer Alexey Galinsky, known for his soundtracks to ice productions such as:

• «Dracula. The Eternal Love Story»
• «Alice in Wonderland»
• «Alice Through the Looking Glass»

He also composed the piece «Olympia» for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics gala performances, and music for the films «Shadow Fight 3» and «Dark World».
