The two-act ballet canvas The Silk Road (Dance of Peace) tells the story of the birth of silk and its legendary journey. This is a meditative ballet imbued with an extraordinary, hypnotic allure.
The Silk Road is a symbol of inspiration and beauty, once again reclaiming its ancient wisdom. It represents humanity’s need to exchange goods, inventions, technologies, and ideas - yet it can thrive only in a space of harmony, where the most precious things are shared openly.
The Silk Road is a path of dance and music - a fusion of styles and cultures. Its refined and graceful movements carry vivid, precise, and recognisable meanings, brought to life on stage through a contemporary lens and a renewed aesthetic.
The idea of staging a ballet based on this historic theme is realised by the Private Foundation for the Development and Support of Ballet and National Dance, with the support of the general partner JSC Samruk-Kazyna.
The Silk Road was recognised as the Best Ballet of the Year and received the 2022 Critics’ Award.
