Gypsy Serenade is one of the most remarkable and evocative works ever brought to the theatre stage. Profound in meaning and shrouded in mystery, this play is dedicated to the spirit of the great «King of Waltz», Shämshi Kaldayakov, and reflects the destiny of the legendary composer.

One rainy day, young Shämshi meets a beautiful girl named Sagynysh. Yet their tender, heartfelt love cannot unite them. While torn between love and solitude, Shämshi encounters a group of gypsies and falls in love with a girl named Izolda. Months pass as he lives among them, and Izolda’s heart, too, responds to his feelings.

But the gypsies, a free and wandering people, must soon leave Kazakh land. The lovers are forced to part with aching hearts, for Shämshi cannot abandon his homeland to follow his beloved. Out of their pure and unfulfilled love, the song Gypsy Serenade is born, a melody of longing and sincerity, a poetic embodiment of true affection.

Accompanied by the composer’s enchanting music, the performance intertwines poetic drama, emotional struggle, and the proud spirit of Shämshi, leaving no spectator untouched.
