The Iron Woman

This sharp satire tells the story of Kuchkar, a simple villager whose drunken antics and constant quarrels drive his neighbours mad. One day, fed up with his behaviour, a neighbour ties him to a pole. His wife, weary and heartbroken, takes the children and leaves for her mother’s home. Fate takes an unexpected turn when a new neighbour, Alimzhan - an engineer and scientist - moves in next door. Driven by the desire to ease the burdens of women working in the cotton fields, Alimzhan has created a robotic woman made of iron. However, the machine isn’t sent directly to the fields.

Instead, Kuchkar is the first to experience life with this iron lady - a creature that obeys every command without question. At first, he is thrilled by her unwavering obedience. But on the very first day of cotton picking, the robot breaks down. Left alone once more, Kuchkar finds himself yearning for his real wife - the woman who had silently carried a weight far greater than any machine ever could. He realises that, unlike the iron woman, his wife bore the true burden of life with strength and dignity.
