The concert, presented in the rare genre of mono-opera – an opera for one soloist – features People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holder of the orders of Kurmet and Barys (third class), professor Shakhimardan ABILOV.
A special chapter in the artist’s creative biography is dedicated to Abai – the great poet, philosopher and educator. Since 1981, when Shakhimardan Abilov first appeared on stage as the great poet in the opera Abai by A. Zhubanov and L. Khamidi, he remains the only singer who not only performs the works of the great poet but also studies Abai’s literary heritage. Abilov has performed solo concert programmes featuring Abai’s songs and romances in Moscow, London, Paris, and other cities both in Kazakhstan and abroad.
The mono-opera includes, in addition to arias, poems by Abai, as well as romances composed by Kazakhstani composers to the poet’s verses.
Accompanist: Aliyar OTETILEU, winner of international competitions
