Located in Almaty, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the largest and oldest museums in Central Asia. It serves as a vital cultural hub, showcasing the rich history and heritage of the nation. Founded in the 19th century, the museum has been housed since 1985 in a purpose-built modern facility.

Today, the museum boasts an impressive collection of over 300,000 artefacts, encompassing all stages of Kazakhstan’s history - from ancient times and archaeological discoveries to the modern era. The collection includes rare artefacts, ethnographic materials, numismatic treasures, historical documents, household items, religious objects, and works of art.
The museum spans a total area of approximately 17,000 square metres, with 4,000 square metres dedicated to permanent exhibitions. It features six main exhibition halls:

Hall of Historical Ethnography
Hall of the History of Kazakhstan
Hall of Modern Kazakhstan
«Open Storage» Exhibition
Hall of Anthropology
